Congratulations the Kasey and family on Adopting Zeus! 

We are thrilled to share the wonderful news — Zeus has found his forever home! This 4-year-old, 140-pound “gentle giant” captured hearts wherever he went, but none more completely than those of Kasy, her husband West, and their brave 2-year-old daughter Maeve.

The family first met Zeus at the Ravenwood Renaissance Faire, where Maeve — with all the courage and sweetness of a true Dane lover in the making — walked right up to a circle of three giant Great Danes and wrapped her little arms around Zeus. From that moment, it was clear this was something special. The family fell instantly in love and even filled out their adoption application that very day.

At the time, we thought Zeus might already be spoken for — he had another meet-and-greet scheduled the following weekend with a couple who also adored him. But fate had other plans! That couple met Zeus and another Dane, Scooby Dee, and ended up finding their perfect match in Scooby Dee… which meant Zeus’s happily ever after was waiting with Kasy, West, and Maeve.

A very special thank you goes out to James and Erin, and their daughters Adeline and Raelyn, for lovingly fostering Zeus. Your family gave him the patience, structure, and love that allowed his gentle, goofy personality to shine through — and helped prepare him for this perfect new chapter. You gave Zeus the gift of stability and care when he needed it most, and thanks to you, he’s now part of a forever family that adores him.

Zeus has been through a lot in his life, but he never lost his loving nature or his enormous heart. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect family for him — one that will surround him with the love, laughter, and security he deserves.

Meet Zeus – A Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold!

Zeus is a 4-year-old, 140-pound Great Dane who’s equal parts majestic and lovebug! This handsome boy is completely potty trained and has great house manners — no crate needed for this gentleman.

Zeus thrives on affection and is happiest when surrounded by his people. He adores children and gets along beautifully with other dogs. (Cats? We’ve been told he’s fine with them, but we haven’t put that to the test yet!) He loves his daily walks — especially when he gets to lead the way — and we’re helping him polish up his leash skills. When he’s not out exploring, you can find him soaking up the sun on the deck or playing a good old-fashioned game of tug-of-war. He’s never shy about inviting kids or adults to join in the fun! Zeus has met poultry of all kinds and sometimes finds them interesting enough to chase, while other times he’s content to simply watch.

When it comes to mealtime, Zeus just needs a little understanding and patience. Because of his rough past where food was scarce, he gets a bit anxious if other dogs are nearby during his meals and may growl to protect his food. However, he’s completely comfortable if a human is nearby — in fact, you can even pet him while he eats and he will happily eat around other dogs. With time, love, and consistency, Zeus may learn that he never has to worry about going hungry again. Even if this cautious habit stays with him, it’s an easy routine to manage in a multi-dog household. Despite his early hardships, Zeus has blossomed into a loving, trusting companion who’s ready to share his enormous heart with a forever family.
