Gus

Gus is just the sweetest boy.  He was recently adopted from a shelter and because of some unfortunate events, his mom is unable to keep him through no fault of hers or his. She reached out to MADGRL for help finding Gus his forever home and after meeting him, we just knew we needed to help.   Gus is incredibly chill. He didn’t bark when I rang the bell and was immediately friendly upon entering the home.  While visiting, I saw the resident cat playing with his tail while he sat unaffected.  His mom is able to keep him until April and we are hoping to find him a home before them.  Here is what she has to say about her experiences with Gus:

Gus is approximately two years old and was adopted from a shelter in NC. He was found as a stray, so I don’t have any background from before I picked him up. He was very underweight and had pressure sores that are mostly healed, but will probably remain as scars. He also has a cyst on his neck that the vet said was ok. 

Gus is incredibly friendly and full of love. He enjoys cuddling and getting lots of pets. He does pretty well on a leash and I’ve taken him for jogs, but he could use some work at a faster speed because he gets distracted by smells and wants to stop abruptly. He does very well outside, otherwise. He is dog friendly and has been ok with dogs or different sizes coming over to visit and he is ok meeting them out and about. He has stayed at a Rover babysitter with farm animals, small kids, and other dogs. Gus is excellent with my cat and they get along well. He is also great friends with my 10 year old son. They play and Riley (my son) has taken him on walks with no issues. Gus is house trained and roams freely while home alone and at night. He hasn’t met a person he doesn’t love and he doesn’t bark when people come to the door.

Gus has been through a lot but is resilient and sweet despite his rough beginning. Help us find him the happily ever after he deserves!
