Congratulations the Crowley’s on Adopting Scooby Dee!

We’re overjoyed to share that Scooby Dee has found her forever family with the Crowley’s and their 12-year-old twins in Maryland! They made the trip to Berryville, VA, to meet with two of our amazing foster families and spend time getting to know two Great Danes. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize that Scooby Dee was the perfect match—she won their hearts almost instantly with her sweet and gentle spirit.

The Crowley’s shared in their adoption application that after losing their beloved dog of 17 wonderful years, their home felt too quiet. They dreamed of welcoming a Great Dane into their lives—drawn to the breed’s kind, loyal, and affectionate nature. We couldn’t imagine a more loving family for Scooby Dee to join.

A very special thank you goes to Ella and Chad, who lovingly fostered and trained Scooby Dee, helping her grow into the confident, affectionate girl she is today. Your dedication and patience made this happy ending possible. And thank you to Paula for introducing the Crowley’s to our team—your kindness helped connect them with the perfect Dane for their family.

Meet Scooby-Dee — The Big Lap Dog Who Thinks She’s Small

Scooby-Dee is a 4½-year-old purebred Great Dane weighing about 95 pounds (6). This beautiful merle girl is sweet, affectionate, and full of love — ready to find a forever family who’ll give her the same care and kindness she gives everyone around her.

Personality + Compatibility
Scooby-Dee is as gentle as they come. She’s lived with children (ages 6 and up) and has always been kind and well-mannered with them. She’s also great with other dogs — both small and large — and has even lived peacefully with cats, showing little to no interest in them.

She’s a total lovebug who thinks she’s a lap dog and thrives on affection and attention. Whether she’s hanging out with kids, another dog, or snuggling up for family time, Scooby-Dee just wants to be close to her people.

Training + Habits
Scooby-Dee is crate trained and was originally trained to use pee pads indoors. Thanks to her amazing foster family, she has now been retrained to go outside and is doing wonderfully! Consistency has been key, and her new family should plan to keep up that routine until it’s second nature for her.

She walks nicely on a leash most of the time, though she can pull a bit when she’s excited. She responds well to gentle redirection and loves to please. She travels well, handles new environments calmly, and greets strangers politely once she realizes they’re friends.

Health + Upcoming Care
Scooby-Dee is in good overall health and up to date on vaccines. She is scheduled to be spayed and have a gastropexy (a preventive stomach-tacking procedure common for giant breeds) in November.

Recovery from these two surgeries typically takes about 2 to 4 weeks, so Scooby-Dee should be ready for adoption in early to mid-December, once she’s fully healed and cleared by her vet.
